Formulation :
- 2H3PO4 + 4KOH = K4P2O7 + 5H2O
- 2H3PO4 + 2K2CO3 = K4P2O7 + 2CO2 + 3H2O
Tetra-potassium Pyrophosphate also known as Tetra-potassium Di-phosphate is potassium phosphate which is white hydroscopic powder. TKPP is an efficient buffering and dispersing agent. TKPP has higher solubility in water and has chelating capabilities. It has vast range of food and industrial uses
Application :
- Tetra-potassium Pyrophosphate is widely used as buffering and dispersing agent
- Tetra-potassium Pyrophosphate is also used as a protein modifier, coagulant and mineral supplement
- TKPP has industrial use in paints and coatings, surface treatment, detergent manufacturing, etc
- TKPP is now also being used for oil drying and in production of synthetic rubber
